BRANDS HATCH DEUTSCHE FEST

5 days after our trip up to Snetterton for the Super Series race we was back at our local track Brands, for round 3 of the Champion of Brands. 

​

Again we would be a support race for another of MSVs big festivals held at Brands Hatch - this time it was the German themed Deutsche Fest.

Quallifiying

I took a couple of slow laps as I needed to bed new brakes in and lucky I did as I nearly got caught out by the amount of oil laid down at Graham Hill Bend in a previous race. 

​

The car felt good as I was starting to push and my times where very consistent in the mid 52s which I was very pleased with. 

​

I qualified 5th just 2 tenths behind Jason Down but only 3 tenths in front of Kevin Bottomley. With the times this close I was really looking forward to the race.

With an unfortunate car problem preventing Keith Wood lining up in 2nd place on the grid I was promoted to 4th. 

​

I got a good start and held position for the first lap, I had a good lap long battle defending from Kevin Bottomley who was all over my tail, I couldn't keep him off and he passed me on the inside at Paddock Hill bend. 

​

My plan was to stay with him and try a move later on in the race. This however came to an abrupt end just 2 corners later as I turned into the fast left hander of Surtees and my left rear upright collapsed which spun me off and out for the race.

​

My first DNF of the year in a race where I could have had a good race and another strong finish - but hey, that's racing I guess?!
